Summer looks have a fun, flirty freedom about them that you don’t see any other time of the year. Nowhere is that more obvious than with the three hottest hair trends of summer 2015: gray hair, the half-and-half, and the lob.
Go Granny, Go Granny, Go Granny, Go
If you think that gray hair is a sign that a woman is letting herself go, you are so early 2000’s right now. Hands down, gray hair on ladies of all ages is the hottest trend right now. In fact, the silver fox look even has its own hashtag campaign — #grannyhair — that is taking social media by storm.
So where did this granny-chic concept come from, you ask? Jean Paul Gaultier gets credit for first making the granny look high fashion on the catwalk in fall of 2011. Since then, celebs like Pink, Dascha Polanco (Dayanara from Orange Is the New Black…or should we say gray is the new black??), Lady Gaga, and Kate Moss have recently been spotted sporting seniors’-home chic. So make like 50 Shades of Grey and go granny.
For the Girl Who Just Can’t Make up Her Mind: Half and Half
Torn between two of summer’s most fashionable hair colors? No need to commit. As luck would have it, indecision is all the rage right now in the form of the half-and-half hair trend. This look showcases two vivid hair colors, one on each side of the head. We always had a feeling the Cruella de Vil look would come back with a vengeance.
We especially like this style with shades that contrast sharply, such as black and white. For a flirtier look, try two different pastel shades, such as pale pink and baby blue.
Cuz We’ve Got a Blank Space, Baby, and We’ll Lob Your Mane
The lob (a.k.a. the long bob) became the hottest new thing when Tay Tay Swift chopped her signature long locks for a sassy, wavy bob. Next thing you know, the fairer half of Kimye also either cut her hair or simply took out her extensions. So it’s official — you now need a lob to keep up with that Kardashian. Perfect for hot summer days, the lob will keep you cool and stylish all summer long.
