pop of color

One of the things we love most about Miami summer is the built-in excuse to let our hair down a little. Retina-scorchingly bright hues may not fly any other season, but in the summer, anything goes. Here are a few fun ways you can incorporate color into your summer look.

1. Summer-Sky Blue Eyes (Even for Brown-Eyed Girls)

Tired of putting on the same old black or brown eyeliner before work every day? It’s time to change things up. Eye makeup is one of the most striking ways to include some color. The key is to keep the focus on one feature, like your eyes or lips. That way, you don’t end up looking like Cyndi Lauper doing a birthday clown gig.

We’re loving blue eyeliner this season. Periwinkle, cornflower, azure — you can’t go wrong. Try pairing the look with a light bronzer and a dab of nude lip balm to let your eyes make their very own statement.

2. Bright Manis…You’ll Totally Nail It

Nothing spruces up a drab look like a mani with a color that pops. Don’t just go for any flashy shade, though. You don’t want to look like a sign on the Vegas strip! Stick to this season’s hottest colorful hues.

We’re really feeling milky lemon polish — it’s just the right amount of subtle for ladies with 9 to 5’s — and hot mandarin or coral…think the color of Arial’s hair in the Little Mermaid.

3. Lusciously Lively Lip Lusters

Warm weather gives you a free pass to get a little wild with your lipstick shades. If you’re feeling extra bold, try a shade of purple that channels the petal colors of seasonal flowers. Bright pink is another way to bring your lips to life.

For light or medium skin tones, try watermelon or bubblegum shades. For darker complexions, choose deeper pinks that are closer to purple. To really pull it together, use a softer, coordinating shade in your eyeshadow.
