When it comes to eyebrows, there’s no such thing as one shape fits all. For example, everyone knows that Cara Delevingne stuns with her bushy brows. On you, though, it may look like you superglued two caterpillars to your forehead.
It can go the other way too. Pam Anderson has been rocking uber-thin brows for decades now, and it works. But on other ladies, it might look like they tried to cover up a brow-singeing debacle with a No. 2 pencil and some optimism.
It’s all about face shape. The right brow will play up your features and flatter any flaws. As if you had any, of course.
Round Faces: Sharp and High-Angled
If you have a round face — think Chrissy Teigen — you want the Megan Fox of eyebrows: high and dramatic. High angles give the eye a vertical point to lengthen the face slightly.
Square Faces: Big N’ Bushy
If you have a square face like Mrs. Jolie-Pitt or Demi Moore, go big or go home with your brows. You don’t want them to look unkempt, but bushy is not necessarily bad with this face shape. A slightly rounded arch is also flattering on our square-jawed friends.
Heart Faces: No Fuss, Slightly Rounded Arch
For heart-shaped faces like those of Debra Messing and Reese Witherspoon, we have good news: your ideal look is super low-maintenance. You don’t want to do a lot of brow shaping with this face shape because the eye is already drawn to the forehead/brow area. Keep them straight-ish with a little bit of a rounded arch to balance out a prominent chin.
Oval Faces: Arch in Moderation
Oval-faced ladies tend to have longer faces. As a result, you don’t want to do anything to the brow, such as a drastic arch, that lengthens the face any more. Go for a moderate arch and extend the ends of the brows out horizontally rather than downward to give your face width.
Close-Set Eyes: Long and Wide
If your eyes are fairly close together like Jennifer Aniston’s, you want to get the attention away from the corners of your eyes. To do that, try long, wide arches. Lengthen out the ends with a pencil if needed.
