As summer transitions into fall, something about the changing seasons always makes us want to change our look as well. But what if you’re not quite ready for a drastic cut but still want to change up your style? We have one word for you: bangs. Bangs can totally revamp your look without radically altering your overall cut. Now the only question is which type of bangs to sport this fall.
Oh Baby, Baby Bangs
Short, razor-straight bangs have been all over the runway recently. These kinds of blunt bangs were especially popular on Alexander Wang’s models. If you have an oval-shaped face, baby bangs will likely look good on you. However, because they have such a costume quality about them, you’ll want to pair them with dark, striking eyebrows or eye makeup.
These bangs have stayed hot for a while now. Fall will likely bring a fun, new twist on the brow-skimming style. Models and starlets alike have started sporting a sort of gumdrop shape with their brow-length bangs. The bangs start farther back on the head and slowly widen to frame the edges of the face. Because they’re longer than most bangs, brow-skimmers are ideal if you want a change without taking off too much length.
If you have naturally curly or wavy hair, you’re in luck. Curly bangs and bangs with a slight wave to them will be hot this autumn, if the runways are any indication. This look works best with shoulder-length, high-volume curls. Think “Baby” from Dirty Dancing! The best part? Naturally curly and wavy girls can rock these bangs without any help from heat-styling.
Now You See ‘Em, Now You Don’t: Swept Back Bangs
Do you already have bangs but they’re getting a bit too long to style forward? Well, as it turns out, your reluctance to get a haircut will make you super trendy this fall. Try sweeping back your bangs by drying them upside down. When you straighten, pull the straightener toward the rear of your head before you flip your bangs to the side. This is a great look for lobs and bobs.
